 I wish to have...

 Lily's Wish
"I wish to have a playhouse"

A magical playhouse was built for 11-year-old Lily this past summer. It was designed as an escape for Lily who was diagnosed in 2006 with Osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer.

Like most wishes and wish children, the ties to the Make-A-Wish Foundation continue long past the granting of a wish. So when Make-A-Wish staffers were talking about the holidays, we decided what better way to brighten them for Lily than by decorating her house with colorful lights and holiday cheer!

So with the generous donation of lights and holiday decorations from Cindy and Young’s Christmas Fantasy in Warren, we set out to light up Lily’s house!

So with ladder, light, hammer and nail, Make-A-Wish supporters and volunteers spent a cold day creating warm memories for themselves and certainly for Lily!

The result was a wall of light adorning the front of the playhouse. Inside was a beautiful fiber optic tree and a string of Wizard of Oz character lights – Lily’s favorite! There’s garland inside and out and even Lily’s slide is lit up!

But the best part was the remote control waiting for Lily when she returned from the Mayo Clinic. Lily knew none of this holiday effort. So when Lily’s mom brought her to the back room of their home, she asked Lily to press the button and magically her playhouse instantly sparkled!

Lily told her mom that it was the best surprise of her life!

And that is the magic of the season. For everyone.
