Sunday 7/24/10

  • Read message from WAM Tour Director, Janelle Gunn and Make-A-Wish Staff

  • The previous night played host to the WAMMYS Awards Ceremony where many riders, teams and volunteers were honored for their fundraising efforts and spirit!  A rebroadcast of the WAMMYS can now be viewed at: http://dev2.magicoast.com/server/MakeAWish
  • The Foundation would like to especially acknowledge our Massage Therapists who donate their time and talent on all 3 days of the tour.  We apologize for the oversight, during our WAMMYS ceremony, in not recognizing these dedicated individuals who make the world of difference to our riders and to the tour.  We love you and could not do it without you!!!!!
  • We also would like to extend a special thank you to Prestige who performed at the WAMMYS.  You guys were amazing and brought the house down!  Great job!  You can learn more about prestige at www.wishmich.org/Prestige.
  • Sunday also played host to our very first WAM 50.  With over 100 registered riders the event literally took off and we are pleased to announce will return due to popular demand!
  • At the Heroes Hurrahhttp://www.wishmich.org/heroeshurrah, riders and Volunteers were treated to warm thank you's from their wish heroes as they placed their medallions around their neck.  This special moment is made possible by our wonderful wish families and wish heroes and we thank them all for coming out and supporting the Foundation, Riders and Volunteers.

  • Inspirational Rider Kevin Degen, who pedals a specialized bike with the use of just one leg and one arm, had a very special wish hero's welcome from Kennedy when he crossed the finish line.  This video, posted by Kennedy's mom, can currently be viewed on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/wishmich.
  • Check out Kevin's other inspirational Channel 7 interview at www.wishmich.org/kevindegen

Saturday 7/24/10

  • The day started out wet and rainy, causing more than a few wipe-outs!
  • Wish kid Victoria and family met the riders at lunch with smiles and candy for all.
  • The first riders made it in to DeWitt High School a little after noon, some by SAG vans (not by choice!).
  • The night ended on a high note at the WAMMYS celebration and awards show. Riders, Volunteers, & Wish Kids were recognized for their amazing fundraising, teamwork, and other notable acts.

  • The total fundraising amount thus far is over $1.5 Million! WAY TO GO!!

Friday 7/23/10

  • Today the humidity is at 100% but so is the determination, excitement and will our rider's possess as they begin their journey and ride in honor of their wish heroes!
  • It was a bit of a foggy start for our first rider who headed out at 6:00 a.m. this morning.
  • at 10:00 am it is about 70 degrees outside but with 93% current humidity it kind of  feels like 170%!
  • At breakstop #4, at least one of the riders decided to take a dip in Diamond Lake.

  • The first riders to finish today rolled into Ferris State University around Noon.
  • As the riders entered Big Rapids, the sun started shining and the temperature rose to the low eighties.
  • Dont forget, you can send riders and volunteers encouragement and support via live streaming messages!
  • Be sure to log on to our WAM On The Tour page Saturday night at 7:00 for our live stream of the WAMMYS Awards Show!
